Mission Opportunities
of the United Methodist Church of Naugatuck
Mission and Outreach Day - On March 13, 2011 we held our All-Church Service
and Outreach Day, which involved the whole church – children and adults going to
work together outside the Church walls to minister and outreach to the community.
John Wesley said, “…religious communities are essential in making links among
people on the different sides of economic divides to make clear the
‘shared humanity’ and to get everyone engaged in responding to needs.” Click here to read the FOLLOW-UP REPORT.
Flood Recovery -
In 2011, from January 8 through 15, we participated in a mission trip
to Cedar Rapids,
Iowa, which is still recovering from the 2008 flood. We painted, sheet
rocked, and re-habed some homes and apartments in cooperation with a
group
called "Block by Block."
Please visit the website at StormRecovery (IOWA).
The Trip
took place from January 8 through 15, 2011.
Habitat for Humanity - "Building
dreams one house at a time." We are affiliated with Habitat for
Humanity of Greater Waterbury. For more information, please visit: HabitatForHumanityofGreaterWaterbury
Crop Walk - "Ending hunger one step at a time." On an annual basis, we participate in the Crop Walk. For more information, please visit: CropWalk
Operation Christmas Child - We participated in Operation Christmas Child for 2010. We served as a shoebox drop off point for the Naugatuck Valley - combined with shoeboxes
from our members, we collected 230 shoeboxes filling 20 cartons for transporting
to the main drop off point in Watertown. Somewhere in this world we made 230
little children know that God loves them. Thank you to everyone who packed a
shoebox or donated funds for shipping. For more information, please visit: OperationChristmasChild
