Prayer Shawl Ministry

Knitting for our neighbor who are in distress, allows us to care for people regardless of their race, religion, or nationality. It is a wonderful opportunity to pray for a stranger and open one’s heart to God’s love for the greater community and world.

 Operation Christmas Child

Since the beginning of Operation Christmas Child in 1993, countless  lives of children and families around the world are touched by the simple gift of a ‘shoebox’ filled with various items, including gifts, toys, school supplies, and they are  offered hope through the Good News of Jesus Christ. We participate in the global outreach of Operation Christmas Child, and we also serve as a shoebox drop off point for the Naugatuck Valley.

The Pumpkin Patch

For eight years, we have worked with the Pumpkin Patch organization, a nationwide mission-oriented project. The pumpkins are grown in New Mexico by Navajo Indians through a program of the Navajo Nation that provides much needed employment for Native American citizens in an area of very high unemployment. The Navajos are paid to plant, cultivate, and harvest the pumpkins. When October comes, the pumpkins are loaded into semi-trailer trucks owned by independent truckers and delivered to churches all over the United States to be sold in Pumpkin Patches like ours. All of the pumpkins are to be sold for missions. There are no “retail” establishments permitted.
